The Center for Democratic Governance(CGD) is an impartial institution at the service of democracy

Democracy and good governance are two unprecedented notions closely linked. This inextricable relation is expressed through"democratic governance".

Democratic Governance actually combines the principles and processes of democracy whith the instruments and processes of good governance.Democracy can be defined as the process through which the instruments, practices and democratic beliefs are built and strenghened in a society.

Good governance is synonym of participation, transparency, accountability and efficiency. It advocates a rule-abiding State and equal justice and ensures that the economic and political priorities are based on social consensus.

As a tool for applied research, training,,advocacy, dialogue facilitation in good governance, the CGDs' main ambitions are creating and disseminating knowledge and new ideas in the west African sub-region in general and in Burkina Faso in particular. This is to contribute to the emergence and consolidation of a democratic society in Africa.

The Center for Democratic Governance benefits from the supports of International Institution for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), of the United Nations Development Programme (PNUD) , the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs Development Cooperation.

The English version of the CGD's website has been set up with the financial support of the Danish Embassy in Bukina Faso.
